Roofers: They Get It You want a safe home. You want a warm home. And of course, you want an energy-efficient home. Do you know what can help you achieve all of these goals? Your roof. That's right, if you call up a roofer and tell them about your desires, they can recommend some roofing repairs or materials to help you achieve those desires. They may recommend a metal roof, or they might recommend adding zinc strips to the roof peak. It all depends. One thing we can promise, though, is that learning more about roofing is a good idea. This blog is a good resource, but we recommend looking for other ones, too.

Dealing With Your Commercial Roof Properly

You want to make sure your commercial roof is in great shape. If it starts to have problems, then you want them found quickly. This is why routine inspections need to be done. If you don't know much about caring for commercial roofs, then this brief guide will be of assistance.

Have inspections done regularly

Don't let too much time go by between the inspections that are done on the commercial roof. The more time that goes by, the more chances that problems will start to arise with the roof. When it comes to a commercial building, it is a good idea for you to have the roofer come out biannually to have a look at it. If issues are found or weaknesses spotted, they can be fixed before your business is put in jeopardy. Keep in mind that you can still have another inspection done sooner if you have had an extreme storm come through or you have any concerns about the roof.

Recognize the signs of roofing damages that need attention

You see bubbling:

If you see bubbling on your commercial membrane roof, then this likely means there is moisture that's getting trapped under the surface. This is very bad because the rainwater can end up going through the roof and causing water damage to your business. A roofer should come out as quickly as possible when this bubbling is noticed, and preferably before the next rainstorm.

You see saggy areas:

Your roof should be completely flat. If you start to notice that there are parts of the roof that look as if they may be sagging, then this can also mean that you have an issue with moisture in the roof. Again, a roofer should be called to come out right away. More rainwater on the roof could cause a major issue, especially if there is a snowfall that occurs and puts weight on that part of the roof.

You see signs of damage inside:

Sometimes, you will be able to spot roofing damage by problems that you find going on inside your commercial building. Watch for mysterious puddles, obvious leaks, stains on the ceiling or upper portions of the walls, water damage to any area, or the appearance of mold. These things may be coming from roofing damage. If you feel this is a possibility, then your next step should be getting the roofer to come out.
